 Sunburn:-

sunburn is a condition that occurs when the skin is exposed to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun, tanning beds, or lamps. The radiation damages the skin cells, resulting in redness, swelling, and pain. The severity of sunburn can vary depending on several factors, such as the duration of exposure, the intensity of the UV rays, and the individual's skin type

Causes of Sunburn:

The primary cause of sunburn is exposure to UV radiation from the sun. However, several factors can increase the risk of sunburn, including

Time of day: UV rays are most intense between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Location: UV rays are stronger at higher altitudes and closer to the equator.

Skin type: People with fair skin, freckles, or red or blonde hair are more susceptible to          sunburn.

Medications: Certain medications, such as antibiotics and some acne treatments, can            increase the skin's sensitivity to UV radiation.

Effects of Sunburn:-

Sunburn can cause a range of effects, from mild redness and discomfort to more severe symptoms, such as blistering and fever.

 Other effects may include:

Pain and discomfort

Swelling and inflammation

Peeling and flaking skin

Headache and fever

Dehydration

Skin cancer

Prevention:- There are some tips to prevent sunburn

1. Apply sunscreen: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF)        of   at least 30, 15-30 minutes before going out in the sun, and reapply it every two hours      or immediately after swimming or sweating.

2. Wear protective clothing: Wear protective clothing such as long-sleeved shirts, pants, and      wide-brimmed hats to block the sun's rays.

3. Seek shade: Stay in the shade during the peak hours of sunlight, typically from 10 am to      4 pm.

4. Use sunglasses: Wear sunglasses that block 100 percent of UVA and UVB rays to protect      your eyes and the skin around them.

5.  Avoid tanning beds: Tanning beds are harmful and can cause skin damage, including            sunburn.

6. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to keep your body hydrated and to help your skin          stay healthy.

Treatment options :- Here are some treatment options for sunburn:

1 Moisturizers and lotions: Apply a gentle moisturizer or lotion to the affected area to help       soothe the skin and prevent dryness.

2. Over-the-counter pain relievers: Take over-the-counter pain relievers like acetaminophen       or ibuprofen to help reduce pain, inflammation, and fever.

3. Hydrocortisone cream: Apply an over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream to reduce                inflammation and relieve itching.

4. Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and help your skin heal faster.

5. Avoid further exposure to the sun: Stay out of the sun until your sunburn has healed to          prevent further damage to your skin
