Fleas and ticks

Fleas and ticks are parasites that are more active in warmer weather, especially during spring and summer. They can cause a range of health problems for both humans and animals, including skin irritation, allergic reactions, skin infections, and the transmission of diseases.

Fleas are tiny insects that feed on the blood of mammals and birds. They can jump onto their hosts from the environment and quickly reproduce, making infestations difficult to control. Besides causing itching and skin irritation, fleas can transmit diseases such as murine typhus and bubonic plague.

Ticks are arachnids that also feed on blood, often from wild animals such as deer or mice. They can carry diseases such as Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and anaplasmosis, which can be transmitted to humans and pets through tick bites.

It's crucial to take measures to prevent flea and tick infestations. Keep your pets treated with flea and tick preventatives, avoid areas where ticks are prevalent, and use insect repellent when spending time outdoors. If you suspect that you or your pet has been bitten by a flea or tick, seek medical attention immediately and remove the parasite as soon as possible to reduce therisk of disease transmission.
